The American Samoa Department of Health is following the guidelines of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the retesting of the traveler who had a positive result for coronavirus.

It was mentioned in the Department of Health earlier this week that since she was in isolation on September 16 the only symptom that she has displayed is a loss of taste.

The Covid variant that she contracted will not be known until a sample has been sent to Honolulu for testing. The first opportunity to do that is on the cargo flight but Dept of Health officials are not certain if this could be done with this week’s cargo flight which is scheduled to arrive Saturday.

Dr Elizabeth Lauvao, Acting Medical Director at DOH said at the press conference that the woman will not be re-tested and this is in accordance with CDC guidelines.
