Three female police officers spent part of their weekend at the Territorial Correctional Facility after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.
The trio were in a speeding vehicle that patrol officers pursued on Saturday night.
The vehicle, a Cube, was seen speeding near Cecilia’s Restaurant in Tafuna about 11 pm and officers turned around and followed it.
The vehicle took the Ottoville road next to the former Argosy Building, and turned into the dirt road behind the former State Dept housing towards the cemetery next to Hope House. Because of potholes and the stagnant pool of water in the area, the vehicle came to a stop.
Inside the Cube were three off duty female police officers. Police found inside the vehicle several opened alcohol beverage cans, specifically cans of Woodstock, a pre mixed whiskey and coke.
The cops were identified as Susana Lin, the driver, D.Tusani and Alicia Lautoa. They were taken to the TCF where they spent Saturday and Sunday night. The three made their initial appearances in District Court today.
Lin is charged with Driving Under the Influence, careless driving and fleeing police officers. Lautoa was discovered to be under 20 and she’s charged with underage consumption and prohibited place of consumption while Tusani is charged with having an open container of alcoholic beverage in a vehicle.
The three were released today after their initial appearances and their next court appearance will be on August 31.
