Sunny’s Restaurant in Nuuuli was closed down Friday after a surprise inspection by the Department of Health.
“The kitchen was filthy and unsanitary,” said a DOH official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
“A hose was hooked to a faucet next to a toilet to soak chicken used by the restaurant to cook meals,” said the official.
“This creates a high risk for cross contamination.”
Another finding was that the grease trap was draining straight into the ground.
The official quoted the owner of Sunny’s saying “they have been very busy for two weeks straight that they didn’t have time to clean up.”
DOH found this unacceptable, and closed the restaurant to give the owner time to clean up and correct the unsanitary conditions that were found.
