Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata is wishing a Happy Flag Day to everyone in American Samoa!

She says, This holiday means so much to our people. On this day (April 17), our ancestors first raised the American flag in our islands. We celebrate being part of the United States, and our special relationship with the United States.

Uifa’atali is thankful that the repatriation effort has enabled many families who had been stranded off island because of Covid to be here for the flag day celebration.,

However our military families, and those serving around the world will miss out, and “we think of all of them.”

The congresswoman notes that while this years celebrations won’t look quite the same as past years, “ we still have many reasons to be thankful.

For example we don’t have any Covid case.

This is the first time since she was elected to Congress thst rep Uifa’atali isn’t home for Flag Day,

She said April is a busy month, Congress is in session.

But while shoe can’t attend “I’m thinking of you, and with you in spirit!
