The Division of the Dept of Human Resources handling the Pandemic Unemployment Program has moved from the AP Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei to the Pago Plaza in Pago Pago.
The move took place Tuesday, March 16.
An announcement from DHR says the move is necessary because of the lack of office space and will enable the PUA Office to provide services to those claiming unemployment benefits.
The new location will serve applicants from both sides of the island, said the announcement.
The two programs for which ASG was awarded $16.2 million by the US Dept of Labor last year are the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance and the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation Program. Both provide unemployment checks for workers whose earnings were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
ASG adopted Hawaii’s employment law in order to qualify. Only US citizens and US nationals and aliens who have US green cards are eligible.
