Five more months in jail for two partners in crime

Two men who have already been in custody for 15 months have been sent back to the Territorial Correctional Facility to serve 5 more months in jail. This is part of a 5 year probation sentence for the two who admitted to receiving stolen property.

Samoa News reports Filipo Upuese, under a plea agreement, pled guilty to the amended charge of conspiracy to receiving stolen property from another person.

Co-defendant Amani Filimaua, pled guilty to receiving stolen property under the plea agreement which also saw other charges against him dropped.

They’ve been at TCF for 15 months, unable to post bond of $15,000 each.

Upuese admitted that on Nov. 18, 2019 he agreed to help Filimaua sell items to a friend in Kokoland, knowing that the items were stolen from a Malaeimi home. The total value of the stolen items exceeded $100.

Filimaua admitted that on the same night, he took items to a person in Malaeimi, knowing that the items were stolen.
