In Samoa, the 160 repatriated Samoans who have been in quarantine for 21 days have been released this morning.

No official word has been given but several posts on social media show families in happy reunion mode with long quarantined relatives.

A returning scholarship student, told KHJ News that they have all been released except for the 16 year old COVID-19 patient who is still in isolation at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole hospital.

‘’We all tested negative and have just been released but have advised us to stay isolated in our homes for at least another seven days,’’ said the student who did not want to be named

The student said while it is good to be out, they will stick to self isolation, ‘’not just for us but for families and friends.’’

Another repatriation flight from New Zealand is expected to arrive in Samoa later today and all passengers will go straight to quarantine for 21 days.

It is not clear how many passengers will be on the flight but chairman of the National Emergency Operations Committee Agafili Shem Leo said the plane will be a wide bodied aircraft capable of carrying up to 300 passengers.
