
It’s raining in earnest this afternoon.
Satellite imagery released from the National Weather Service in American Samoa shows torrential rains over most of the Samoan islands.
An unstable line of clouds extending from the far northwest of the islands is causing the wind and rain. The trough is called the South Pacific Convergence Zone has delivered over an inch of rain so far today and will continue to move slowly over the area through Wednesday.
There is a tropical disturbance moving toward American Samoa however it is not expected to intensify.
As such, the National Weather Service is continuing its High Wind Warning and Gale Warning.
Winds will continue from 20 to 30 miles per hour and increasing to 40 miles per hour through Monday night.
