A pyramid scheme operating in Samoa is now being investigated by police after investors complained of not getting what they had been promised.

Samoa Observer reports the ‘’re-gifting’’ scheme is operated by a private company. The company registered as Sow and Reap 5R Limited in December 2020.

A director of the company Darcy Nu’uvali told the newspaper the company had run out of money after enticing investors with promises of tripling their money if they brought in more investors.

“We are the ones that are going out to do a presentation. We have informed [those in our Siusega office] to prepare payouts for people but we are told there is no money.’

A search of the company’s registration revealed Nu’uvali is a shareholder along with Fa’asaosao Burke of Si’usega.

Police Commissioner Fuiavaili’ili Egon Keil said there are currently a number of cases connected to pyramid schemes and they require thorough investigations.

He added that arrests are yet to be made but police cannot move forward with the investigations if victims are not forthcoming.

This is the same type of scheme about which the American Samoa Attorney General’s Office has issued a warning.
