The first release of the second round of Economic Impact Payments or stimulus checks is Wednesday. In anticipation of the high demand for check cashing services, the Territorial Bank of American Samoa (TBAS) is extending its hours.
Effective Wednesday February 10th, TBAS branches in Utulei and Tafuna will be opened from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
“We anticipate long lines and extended wait times during this period,” says an announcement from TBAS.
The bank encourages those with online banking and the smart phone mobile application to electronically submit their stimulus check for deposit. Once the deposit is processed, customers can use their TBAS Debit Mastercard to make purchases at local merchants and to get cash from any ATM on island.
The extended banking hours will continue until February 26th.
