Flags are flying at half-staff today.

Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga made the order via General Memorandum today with the subject line: Flying of flags at half-staff as a mark of respect for the victims of violence in the U.S. Capitol.

“Pursuant to Proclamation by the President of the United States, the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff until sunset on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, as a mark of solemn respect for the service and sacrifice of United States Capitol Police Officers Brian D. Sicknick and Howard Liebengood who died in the wake of the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

“As we reflect upon this tragedy and consider the loss of life and the impacts on the affected survivors, let us each take a moment to give thanks to our God for his continued blessings upon our Territory.”
