The Methodist Church held a ground breaking ceremony Tuesday for its new gymnasium at the Susana Uesele compound in Ottoville.

Church pastors and their wives from throughout the territory and the various church committees joined the President of the American Samoa synod, Rev. Asi Tuisalega at the blessing and turning of ground at the construction site.

Mrs Fiapa’pa’i Fruean, President of Nana’s Construction, which is building the gym, was also present.

In an earlier interview with Rev. Asi, he told KHJ News that the new gym will be the same size as the new DWYA gym at Tafuna.

He said this has been a long planned project and the American Samoa synod is excited that it is finally getting off the ground. The new building should be completed before the end of the year.
