The last group of travelers in quarantine in Samoa are being released this week according to the National Emergency Operations Center.

Chairman of NEOC, Agafili Shem Leo, said that more than 160 passengers from flights from New Zealand and Fiji on December 7th need to have two negative final covid tests before they are released.

He also confirmed that 231 passengers on a flight from New Zealand on December 4, were released from quarantine last Friday after they all returned two negative covid tests.

Meanwhile a cargo flight from New Zealand which had been cancelled last Friday arrived at Faleolo Airport late Saturday afternoon.

Agafili said after the stormy weather cleared and flooded areas of the airport were cleaned out and working, the flight was allowed back.

He said while the plane only carried much needed cargo into Samoa, more than 100 passengers traveled to New Zealand on the return flight that evening.
