
The Tropical Depression which dumped rain and whipped up gusty winds yesterday and last night has now been named Tropical Cyclone Zazu. It was located 250 miles south west of Tutuila this evening and moving to the south away from the Samoa islands.
The National Weather Service reports that a trough moving over the region will continue to bring breezy conditions and rain is forecast throughout the week.
According to Meteorologist Joe LaPlante, rain will be the main concern because of flooding and also because of heavy saturation that can lead to mudslides. Yesterday several landslides were reported by the Emergency Operations Center.
Mariners are urged to use extra caution if you decide to go out to sea.
