Two Directors Retained for Four Months

Governor Lolo Moliga has informed the governor and lt governor-elect that he is giving two members of his cabinet, the Treasurer and director of Health, short term contracts so they can help ensure a smooth transition.

The governor made this known to Governor-elect Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga and Lt Governor-elect Talauega Eleasalo Ale when he met with them on Monday to discuss transition plans.

Lolo told KHJ News yesterday that he presented a summary of the transition report and suggested that the two main areas which the incoming leaders need to focus on are finances and the COVID-19 pandemic.

He informed Lemanu and Talauega that he was retaining Treasurer Ueligitone Tonumaipe’a And Director of Health Motusa Tuileama Nua on four month contracts to help the incoming administration with key functions of their departments. That is managing ASG finances for the treasurer and spearheading the territory’s response to the COVID -19 pandemic for the health director.

Lolo explained that the two officials would be there to advice and answer questions from the leaders about government finances and pertinent information related to the COVID 19 pandemic.

He believes having these key directors remain on the job would help the new leaders as they settle in to their positions at the helm of government.

According to the governor Lemanu and Talauega agreed with his decision.

Lolo said he was very happy with the opportunity to meet face to face with the incoming leaders.

Based on this request for working space He has allocated the VA Office in Tafuna for the Lemanu Talauega transition team to use.

Asked about his his administration’s transition report, the governor said it is ready and he has advised his directors to be ready to explain an answer questions from the Lemanu Talauega transition teams.
