All those who were in quarantine because they were directly or indirectly in contact with the container ship Fesco Askold will get to spend Thanksgiving Day with their families.

Today they were all released from the Department of Health Quarantine Facility  in Tafuna.

DOH  Epedimiologist Dr Aifili John Tufa says all were tested again for coronavirus and all 25 produced negative results.

Twelve DOH personnel and two ship pilots from Port Administration were initially taken into quarantine the evening of the day that the Fesco Askold arrived in port.

This followed positive coronavirus tests for three of the 17 crew members of the vessel.

A few days later two additional DOH employees joined the group in quarantine because they had not followed procedures for using vehicles that transported the quarantined personnel.

Nine stevedores from Harbor Maritime who unloaded and loaded containers from  the  Fesco Askold for two days last week were also in qurantine beginning in the middle of last week.

The stevedores and the Port Administration pilots were able to leave the quarantine center to tend to their work assignments and then return to the facility.

But the rest stayed in quarantine the whole time until today.
