Three months since the start of the new school year, the Department of Education has yet to receive equipment for online classes for public and private schools.

The equipment was purchased with the Department of Education grant from the CARES Act of $38 million, which DOE Director Dr Ruth Matagi Tofiga emphasized they had to apply for.

As listeners may recall when the 2020/2021 school year started all public schools had a hybrid schedule, a combination of in person and virtual classes. However because of the delays in delivery of the equipment DOE reverted to full in person classes last month .

The bidding was carried out in August and there were delays in awarding he contract.

In her presentation at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the DOE director reported that the equipment has still not arrived.
