The Governor and Lt Governor-elect were waiting for the results of the 2020 general elections to be certified before requesting a meeting with Governor Lolo Moliga to discuss transition plans.
This is according to the Chairman of the Lemanu/Talauega Campaign Committee Malemo Tausaga.
Governor-elect Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga had announced at a committee meeting last Thursday that he, Lt Governor-elect Talauega Eleasalo Vaalele Ale and Chairman Malemo planned to meet with Governor Lolo on Monday or Tuesday this week.
However when KHJ News spoke with Malemo on Tuesday he said they’ve decided to wait until after the results of the elections have been certified by the Election Office before requesting a meeting with Governor Lolo.
4:30 pm this past Tuesday was the deadline for any contests or challenges for the November 3rd election results to be filed.
As we reported this morning Election Commissioner Dr Lealofi Uiagalelei has certified the gubernatorial, congressional and House of Representatives election results and there are no changes.
KHJ News asked the Governor’s Executive Assistant Iulogologo Joseph Pereira about the transition report which Governor Lolo had mentioned at several cabinet meetings.
“The Transition Report is being prepared with the hope that it will be ready in time for the Governor to present to the elected Leaders when they meet,” said Iulogologo.
Governor Lolo’s focus for the remainder of his term as chief executive, according to Iulogologo is to complete infrastructure projects before he exits on January 3, 2021.
The completed projects will be dedicated during the remaining two months of his term as Governor.
These include the new TAOA Complex in Tafuna which will be dedicated tomorrow, followed by the Su’iga’ula rehabilitation project, the Sogelau Memorial, and gymnasiums.
