Roadside Waves from Fagaalu to Nuuuli Today

This time tomorrow 41 voting places on Tutuila, Aunu’u and Manu’a would be opened as voters had to the polls to elect a governor and lt governor for the next four years, a Delegate to Congress and 20 of the 21 members of the House of Representatives for the next two years.

Today the gubernatorial camps are making their last public appearances by the road side. All camps have scheduled roadside waves this afternoon.

Gaoteote and Faiivae has their wave at Fagaalu beginning at 2pm; Lemanu and Talauega will be at Matu’u at 3pm, 3pm is also when I’aulualo and Tapaau will be waving at Avau and the team of Nua and Satele will have their wave at Nu’uuli next to Crispy Chicken beginning at 4pm.

As of yesterday, 1,365 of the 16,343 people registered to cast ballots had already voted. 701 via outside or off-island absentee ballots and 664 via local absentee ballots.

The absentee ballots will all be sorted and distributed to the designated polling places where they will be counted with the rest of the votes cast tomorrow.

Today at 9:00am, three Election Office officials will be heading to Manu’a on Samoa Airways to deliver ballot boxes and supplies for tomorrow’s election. As in previous election years, Manu’a will be the first to get its results as voters on the islands tend to all cast their ballots by noon.

Polls open from 6am to 6pm and there’ll be one paper ballot for the three different races, governor and lt governor, Congress and House of Representatives.

The order of ballot counting after the polls close at 6pm according to the Election Office is gubernatorial ballots first, then the American Samoa House of Representatives and finally the Congressional ballots.

The weather forecast for tomorrow includes scattered showers.

The Election Office urges all registered voters to please go out and vote tomorrow.
