A Samoa Airways flight is bringing in about a dozen passengers from Samoa this afternoon. According to the chairman of the Coronavirus Task Force Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, the only information he has is that the flights from Samoa are charters by private companies.
He said he would reach out to the Attorney General for flight information.
Sources told KHJ News that the passengers include local residents who were stranded in Samoa and workers of local construction companies.
Information we received is that the owner of a construction company that had traveled to Samoa last month, is also on the passenger list. This has raised eyebrows since the rules published for the repatriation flights are that they are only for stranded residents and return travel short trips are not allowed.
The return flight to Samoa is scheduled to take personnel who traveled here on the medical flight from New Zealand two weeks ago to do work for Paramount Builders related to the Fono building construction.
