The Department of Port Administration is launching  its long-anticipated Port Container Tracking Management Information System (PCTMIS) on Monday, November 02, 2020 at the Port of Pago Pago.

This multifaceted system intended to generate revenues,  has been in the planning stages since 2015 under the guidance of Port Director Taimalelagi Dr. Claire T. Poumele and the DPA management team.  It’s been in development since 2018.

The system is designed to track the movement of containers: from when they are offloaded and loaded from ships; delivered to and from the port, and will calculate associated storage fees and produce an invoice for the use of the Port Container Yard.

Port Administration says an average of 40,000 containers  enter and leave the Port of Pago Pago every year.

The PCTMIS has been undergoing trials this month   and is now in its final testing stages.

Port Administration appreciates  the  support from shipping lines and agents in automating their container cargo manifest process to interface with the new system.

The project is  funded under the Office of Insular Affairs, Department of Interior Technical Assistance Program (TAP), and is being spearheaded by DPA IT Manager Henry Seong-Hwan Cha.
