Forty-seven students of Samoana High School sat down to a meal with 47 business owners and lawyers, nutritionists, meteorologists, army recruiters, stay at home moms and several others last night at the Home of the Sharks.

It was Share a Meal with a Mentor event initiated by Samoana High School teacher Sabrina Suluai -Mahuka. The idea was to pair up a student with a mentor based on the student’s interest with the aim of helping the student with their career path and also just to have a conversation.

The mentor had to provide a meal, ideally home cooked, but considering the mentors were busy professionals many meals were from restaurants.

Suluai-Mahuka said judging from the feedback from both students and mentors and the atmosphere of last night’s event, it was a big success.
