According to candidate for Lt. Governor Tapaau Dan Mageo Aga, honesty, experience and qualifications were key traits they will look for when picking directors. They must also have demonstrated love for the people.
When asked what they will not tolerate, Candidate for Governor Iaulualo Faafetai Talia said they will not tolerate any corruption in government.
He repeated that directors must be honest and possess requisite qualifications and experience for the cabinet positions.
Iaulualo said in making their selections their team will look at the person’s track record and they need to demonstrate a sense of love and service for the people and be law abiding.
According to governor candidate Nuanuaolefeagaiga Saoluaga Nua, selecting directors is not simple.
He said he and his running mate Taoumanaia Galu Satele will probably pick a committee of 3 people to review resumes of candidates for director positions.
He said requirements for directorships will be listed and those who meet them will be vetted by the committee.
Nuanuaolefeagaiga said they will not pick anyone who has been convicted of a crime because that’s a sign they won’t follow the law.
“We will not tolerate a person who is not honest, and shows no love for the people,” he commented. “If they are not honest they will not serve the people and the people will suffer.”
His running mate Tapumanaia reiterated that point.

Lemanu Peleti Palepoi Sialega Mauga, candidate for governor said he and Talauega have not even discussed selection of directors.
He said directors must meet certain requirements including what has been discussed at the forum, for example passing a drug test. They must not have prior convictions. And they must be honest and be dedicated to serving the public.
Lemanu said their platform makes it clear that the government belongs to the people, it exists to serve everyone.
He said they will pick directors who are honest and committed to serving the public’s interest and not with the mindset of being in the position to benefit just them and their families.
