The COVID-19 pandemic is not stopping the Annual Tattoo Festival.

The celebration of one of Samoa’s most ancient and treasured art forms is slated for October 23-25 and will be a global virtual event.

Founder Tisa Faamuli, owner of the world famous Tisa’s Barefoot Bar at Alega said the onset of coronavirus makes it more important to unite family and friends and lovers of this art.

“We believe celebration of the pe’a, our culture and way of life is more important this year than at any other time in our 15 year history of the Tattoo Festival”  she said.

Alega Beach remains the base of the 3 day festival which will be streamed live on Facebook.

Tisa has decided to hand the reigns of promoting and organizing the event to the younger generation while she supervises behind the scene.

Mattie Unutoa who has been attending since the first festival 14 years ago talked about what’s planned for this year’s celebration.
