House Confirms Tuimavave as CPO

The House of Representatives yesterday approved the nomination of Tuimavave Tauapai Laupola as Chief Procurement Officer in the remaining three months of the Lolo Lemanu Administration.
The vote was unanimous and followed a confirmation hearing where Representatives advised the nominee to adhere to the law and restore integrity to the procurement process.
The Senate has yet to hold a confirmation for Tuimavave.
Also yesterday the House of Representatives rejected the report from the joint conference committee to return the election bill that would allow voters stranded off island to cast ballots in the November 3rd elections, to the original bill as presented by the Senate. In other words delete all of the House amendments in the bill. The House is requesting that another conference on the bill, with all of the members of both chambers, be held this morning.
By the time the House session was over and the Speaker and Representatives made their way to the joint budget hearings, senators had already left for the day.
The joint budget committees were to review the Fono’s budget yesterday then decide whether to make any changes to the governor’s proposed FY2021 budget.
