Two Chinese nationals whom the Samoa Government tried to deport have been denied entry into New Zealand.

The pair is facing deportation after being convicted of “skimming” more than $ST70,000 from ATMs belonging to the Bank South Pacific, according to the Samoa Observer newspaper.

Zhong Shuiming and Yang Quigreen were convicted in 2017.

“They were scheduled to leave last week,” said Alex Su’a the men’s lawyer.

“We are waiting for them to get clearance to go through New Zealand.”

The two remain in custody until they can be deported.
