It had been announced earlier that the flights bringing special skilled and technical workers from Samoa would end August 17.

However Governor Lolo Moliga said at Sunday’s Coronavirus Task Force meeting that there’s two more flights left

According to the presentation by the Department of Health at the meeting, from August 1 -30th, a total of 55 people arrived on Samoa Airways and Talofa Airways flights from Samoa.

August 1-17th were the announced dates for flights to bring the special skilled workers.

So far there’s been no official information provided on the skills of the workers that were flown in but informed sources say nearly all are construction workers.

Combined with arrivals from Samoa since June, total arrivals was 294, while those who traveled to Samoa in that time period was 221.

According to Director of Health Motusa Tuileama Nua they do not have any information on the number of people who will be brought on the remaining two flights that Governor Lolo mentioned on Sunday.

He said all he knows is that there are still some people who were issued OK boards by the Attorney General waiting for flights to bring them.
