The home of the interim leader of the Samoa First Party is alleged to have been the target of a suspected arson attempt last Friday evening.

Samoa Observer reports that a party member confirmed a Party meeting finished around 9.30pm and they had settled down for dinner when the dogs started barking.

Afamasaga Ata said the barking was unusual and one of the dogs was scratching on the door.

He said a girl then shouted out that one of the cars was on fire. Some of the members drove vehicles away from the fire which had spread to a shed next to the cars.

SFP leader Unasa Iuni Sapolu told the newspaper they had been targeted and the fire was deliberate.

This was a hit, a hit on us,” she said. “This one was different, but it’s good we have each other to share. There would’ve been no more Apaula if we didn’t respond quickly,” she said.

It’s understood police are investigating the incident.
