
Hawaiian Airlines has confirmed that it has received another request from Governor Lolo Moliga to continue the suspension of their flights from Honolulu to Pago Pago until the end of September.
KHJ News inquired with Hawaiian Airlines after local residents who had been booked to fly from the mainland early next month were advised that there had been a cancellation to one or more of their flights and informing them of options for rebooking or getting a refund.
Our email to Ann Botticelli, Vice President of Corporate Affairs was answered by Mr Alex Da Silva who said that Botticelli retired last week.
We asked if Governor Lolo has made another request to extend suspension of flights for September.
“Yes we received a request by the governor to extend our service suspension through the end of September,” said Da Silva, “and we have responded that we will comply.”
In his last request to HA President and CEO, Mr Peter Ingram, the governor citing the continued upward spiral of coronavirus cases in Hawaii,had asked that flights to American Samoa be suspended up till the end of August.
American Samoa’s 7th Amended Emergency Declaration for COVID-19 which went into effect August 1st, states that all Hawaiian Airlines flights will continue to be suspended for an additional 30 days with reconsideration slated for September 1st.
The last Hawaiian Airlines flight to American Samoa was on March 26th,
