The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority is currently using 10 gigabits of the 200 gigabits of bandwidth it bought from Hawaiki.

When the American Samoa Hawaii Cable wanted to buy bandwidth from ASTCA, it couldn’t because of legal reasons.

So ASH went straight to Hawaiki and negotiated to buy 10 gigabits and ended up with a deal that bought capacity through an alliance with Hawaiki and ASTCA .

CEO of ASH Cable Paul Young explained this at a hearing of the House Budget and Appropriations Committee last week.

Hawaiki has sold to French Polynesia 50 gigabits which ASTCA and ASH Cable will carry to Samoa and onto French Polynesia. It is also in negotiations to provide 10 gigabits to the Cook Islands.
