Raid in Samoa Finds High Powered Weapons

A 44 year old man has been charged with unlawful possession of firearms after a raid on his home in Faleula, on Thursday.

Ipuauro Uli Sagote of Faleula and Lalomalava in Savaii is also facing charges relating to being in possession of paraphernalia associated with the manufacture and consumption of narcotics.

Police Commissioner Fuiavaiilili Egon Keil and the officers who led the raid, Inspector Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo and Inspector Tagaloa Toddy Iosefa, displayed 15 firearms including high powered rifles and handguns during a press conference on Friday afternoon.

Fuiavailili also said police had confiscated Sagote’s four wheel drive pick-up truck which also had a loaded gun inside.

He expressed concern at the number of firearms recovered during the raid.

According to Fuiavailili, Sagote has been in and out of trouble with the law before and has been raided at least three times.
