A couple operating a bar at the Bowling Alley appeared in District Court yesterday for violating the restriction on business hours under the COVID-19 emergency declaration.

Blue Chen and Emilio Fruean were arrested Saturday night after police patrolling the area observed several vehicles parked outside the Bowling Alley while the gate was locked. This was around 10:10 pm, more than an hour past the 9pm closing time under the current emergency declaration for coronavirus.

A male at the gate when asked what was going on inside said the owners were having a small private party.

When officers entered the club they saw many people were still inside and some customers were still entering.

Some of the cops then stood at the door to stop anyone from entering.

The couple was transported to the Tafuna Substation and later taken to the Territorial Correctional Facility for the next sitting of court

Police said that this was not the first time that the owners had been warned about staying open past the 9 pm closing time.

Yesterday in District Court, the two pled guilty to violating the emergency declaration and were sentenced to 6 months probation and fined $50.
