The Election Office reminds residents that voter registration is continuing at the Election Office in Tafuna from 8:00am to 4pm.
The last day to register is October 5th. Documents needed for registration are a birth certificate, social security card and photo ID.
Candidates intending to run for the offices of Governor and Lt Governor, Delegate to Congress and the American Samoa House of Representatives have until 4:30 pm September 1st to file nominating petitions.
Absentee voters including those who are stranded because of the suspension of flights due to the Coronavirus Pandemic are allowed to vote by absentee ballot.
They can apply on line at the Election Office website aselectionoffice.gov
Intending candidates who are not on island as a result of the flight suspension can designate a member of their committee to pick up and process their nomination papers.
The Election Office wishes to inform the public that the scheduling of campaign fundraising activities and wave events is not under the jurisdiction of the Election Office. Any concerns about the impact of these events on the public should be addressed to the respective campaign committees.
