Senator and Candidate for Governor Nuanuaolefeagaiga Saoluaga Nua has written to Governor Lolo Moliga asking why the stimulus funds from the federal government have not been disbursed.
In his April 30 letter, Senator Nua said he’s extremely grateful for the governor’s strong leadership in taking swift action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He informed the governor that he has received “overwhelming phone calls” from constituents both in Manu’a and Tutuila “who are confused as to why the stimulus checks have not been released.”
The Manu’a senator said he’s aware that the funds have been made available and asked the governor to please provide an explanation.
“Our people including the small businesses and private sector, church and so forth are experiencing extremely financial hardship and need immediate assistance,” wrote Nuanuaolefeagaiga.
“I strongly urge your administration to consider releasing the available stimulus funds immediately. Let us not forget to put our people first in all decisions made.”
