As of yesterday 77 COVID-19 tests have been conducted and all were negative for the deadly virus.
50 of those tests were conducted locally.
This week, the Department of Health plans to begin coronavirus testing for first responders, as reported by DOH epidemiologist Dr Afili John Tufa at yesterday’s Coronavirus Task Force meeting.
Responding to questions from Task Force Chairman Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, FEMA representative Holly Fuller said FEMA doesn’t need to approve the testing plan, but stands ready to provide support to carry it out.
Iulogologo pressed for an assurance from FEMA about the provision of more test kits and supplies.
Dr Tufa said the number of tests that can be done daily will increasewith the additional test kits set to arrive this week.
