The Samoa Airways Twin Otter which has been based here since last month yesterday took a CT-scan engineer from LBJ Hospital to check the CT machine at Samoa’s national hospital.

According to the Chairman of the Coronavirus Task Force Iulogologo Joseph Pereira, the Samoa Prime Minister wrote to Governor Lolo Moliga requesting the LBJ’s CT-Scan engineer to come to Samoa to repair their down CT machine.

“The Governor approved the request after consultation with CEO Faumuina on the availability of Mr. Dayang to accommodate the Prime Minister’s urgent request,” said Iulogologo.

LBJ CEO Faumuina John Faumuina confirmed that the engineer left yesterday and the arrangement was for him to make the repairs and return right away.

Faumuina said the engineer is from the company which supplies medical equipment for the LBJ Hospital Medpharm.

He said the hospital can not afford to have the engineer away for more than a day in case our own equipment needs to be repaired.

The engineer returned this morning on the Samoa Airways Twin Otter.

KHJ News asked Iulogologo about a proposal from Samoa for a weekly inter Samoa flight to allow citizens and residents of the two sides to return home.

He said Governor Lolo has issued his Fourth Declaration which calls for the continued closure of our borders.

“So there is no discussion ensuing relative to the reopening of our borders,” Iulogologo stated.
