Tax filing deadline moved to July 15

You have more time to file your 2019 taxes.

Treasury and the Tax Office are extending the tax filling deadline from April 15 to July 15.

This is to provide relief to all taxpayer of American Samoa after the governor’s declaration due to COVID-19.

An announcement from Treasury says taxpayers can defer income tax payments due on April 15 to July 15 without penalties and interest. The deferment applies to all taxpayers, individuals and businesses.

Taxpayers don’t need to file an additional form to qualify for the automatic extension.

Individual taxpayers who’ll require additional time after the July 15 deadline must file Form 4868.

Businesses who require additional time must file Form 7004.
