High wind warning downgraded to wind advisory

wednesday-am

The National Weather Service is forecasting diminishing winds today but still a lot of rain.

The high wind warning has been downgraded to a wind advisory.

Winds could be strong at times but the damaging winds we had a few days ago are not expected.

A flash flood watch, wind advisory and high surf advisory are in effect.

With unstable weather patterns we’ve been experiencing the NWS is keeping a close eye on other systems developing nearby and will tell us about then when there’s a clearer picture of what we can expect.

Public schools are closed for a second day today.

Director of Education Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga asks principals and vice principals to report to your respective schools but all teachers are excused.

Staff of Elementary and Secondary Divisions are asked to please assist with assessment of school infrastructure.  All other DOE divisions report to your assistant director for instructions.
