Quadruplets were born at the LBJ Hospital yesterday.

They were all girls and delivered by Caesarean section at 3:47 pm, according to an aunt, Rosa Iole.

The parents of the four newborns are Filomena Iole Sokimi and Sokimi Sokimi of Iliili.

The couple already have seven children.

According to Mrs Iole, during her niece’s check ups during pregnancy she was told to expect triplets. But to her surprise, after the first three daughters were delivered, the doctor discovered a fourth baby.

The girls weighed 4 lbs each and they and their mother are doing well.

KHJ News was unable to verify if this was the first quadruplets born in the territory.

Mrs Iole said their family was excited about the quadruplets but said her niece and husband would need their financial support in taking care of the babies.
