The 2019/2020 school year has been extended one week to make up for lost instruction time due to the measles outbreak.
The outbreak forced schools to close a week earlier than scheduled for the Christmas and New Year holiday and instead of a two week break as usual, classes were out for three weeks.
Director of Education Dr. Ruth Matagi Tofiga announced on KVZK-TV last week that instead of the current school year ending on June 12, the day of school is moved back to June 19th.
And high school graduations have also been moved back one week.
The graduation schedule for public high schools is:
Manu’a High School – June 12
Samoana High School – June 15
Nu’uuli Vo Tech – June 16
Leone High School – June 17
Tafuna High School – June 18
Fagaitua High School – June 19
The director said all other activities on the school calendar will take place as scheduled.
