
February 3rd, is the release date for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program when the US Mint releases five new quarter designs each depicting national parks and sites.
Among the first to be released is the National Park of American Samoa quarter, which features a Samoan fruit bat hanging from a tree an holding her pup.
An official unveiling ceremony is planned for February 13 at Suigaula Utulei and according to information from the National Park the Director of the US Mint is scheduled to attend.
The National Park of American Samoa is the only US park that’s home to the Samoan fruit bat.
Also known as flying foxes their wings can span up to 3 feet and are active day and night.
