Governor Lolo Moliga says the true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of the incredible act of love that is articulated in John 3:16-17: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”
In his Christmas message the governor suggests that we adopt this message of love and commit to giving of our very self and think only of others as to how to bring the greatest happiness to those who are less fortunate than us and those going through the most difficult and stressful of times without expectation of receiving anything in return.
The governor says: “Let us take time, this holiday season, to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas by doing something for others. Think about the less fortunate and let us glorify the One who gave it all. A child was born in humble circumstances and his sacrificial death reflected the same; however, both were significant for humanity”.
He asked for prayers for those facing tragedy.
“Remember our brothers and sisters in Samoa in our prayers and our good wishes of peace and happiness during this Christmas holiday.”
Lolo extends Christmas greetings to everyone on behalf of Lieutenant Governor Lemanu and Ella Perefoti Mauga and their family, along with First Lady Cynthia Malala Moliga and their family.
“We wish the people of American Samoa our Christmas best wishes together with our prayers petitioning God that you will all feel and experience His love manifested in the birth of His Son Jesus Christ reflecting His greatest gift to all of us. We look forward to welcoming the New Year with all of you.”
Congresswoman Aumua Amata also gave this Christmas message:
“At Christmas we remember this eternal truth: Every person is a beloved child of God. As a grateful Nation we praise the joy of family, the blessings of freedom and the miracle of Christmas. On behalf of Fred, our children and entire family, Merry Christmas and God bless you all, especially our beloved people of American Samoa.”
