A woman from Iliili is charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute after police discovered contraband in a truck she was driving.

Samoa News quotes from court documents, that Mavis Fiatupu was driving a black truck in Tafuna on November 29 when police pulled her over for not having a light on her number plate.

Because of a discrepancy in the records for the truck’s license plate, police impounded the vehicle and did an inventory of what was inside.

A black bag containing ziplock baggies, one of which had a white crystalline substance that tested positive as ice. was found under the driver’s seat.

Police also found a glass pipe and another baggie on the defendant.

During a second search of the vehicle, police found a glass pipe about 8-9 inches long in the back seat of Fiatupu’s vehicle.

When asked what this was she said it was a pipe for smoking ice.

Other evidence that police collected from the woman’s truck included a digital scale, several ziploc plastic baggies; 19 Q-Tips; one jumbo cut-up straw, electric tape, and a large cut-up straw commonly used to scoop ice.

District Court Judge Elvis Patea set bail at $20,000.
