The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority plans to roll out its cable TV System or IPTV during this fiscal year.

CEO Lewis Wolman said at yesterday’s cabinet meeting that the service will be high definition with 50 channels that residents are used to.

But initially ASTCA will carry programming from the four major networks out of Honolulu.

Governor Lolo Moliga said he had been watching IPTV for the last six weeks and he was beginning to run out of patience.

He recommended that ASTCA should add some news and sports to the TV offering.

Wolman said progress at ASTCA has been slower than they planned but added it has been slow but sure.

The new LTE mobile network is up and running but there hasn’t been much publicity because they want to iron out a few bugs before going full force with the promotion.

He expects that to happen in the next few weeks.
