More than $40,000 raised on 1st day

The tally of donations from the first day of the Fesaosoani Alofa mo Samoa, fundraiser  to help the independent state deal with the deadly measles epidemic is $44,010.

Governor Lolo and First Lady Cynthia Malala Moliga presented $10,000 , Nana’s Construction-$20,000, Ausage and Associates/Transit Hotel-$2,000, H&H Corporation-$2,000,. Happy Trucking/Fuatagavi Malaga Lealofi & family-$5,000, Titanic/Sale Young-$1.000, Secretary of Samoan Affairs and chair of the fundraising committee Mauga Tasi Asuega-$1000, Catechist Tomasi Taavili-$1,000, Fanene Edda Wyberski contributed $1,000 and O&O Inc-$500,

Among the families and individuals who stopped by at Suiga ula to donate was the uncle of the first baby to die from measles in SamoA.  Mr Ila Mulipola made a $100 donation in memory of his nephew, Peter von Heiderbrant.

The fundraising for Samoa will continue up to December 20 and its planned that collection points will be set up at other locations in the eastern, central and western zones.

The committee headed by Secretary of Samoan Affairs Mauga and Treasurer Ueligitone Tonumaipea will be at Suigaula from 8am to 6 pm.

And they will also be collecting on Saturdays. Donations of cash, canned food and dry packaged goods are being accepted.
