Happy Thanksgiving Day 2019

Governor Lolo Moliga says Thanksgiving Day, is the perfect time to pause and count our blessings, and to be grateful for what we have.

In his words, “When we are grateful we are happier, less depressed, less stressed and more satisfied with our lives and more apt to have positive social relationships with our neighbors, our co-workers, and everyone who enter our lives.”

The governor quotes a verse from the Good Book which he feels best sums up the spirit of Thanskgiving:”You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.”

He also repeats the words of President John J. Kennedy: “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

Lolo sad, “Let us then express our gratitude to our sons and daughters serving in the Armed Forces of the United States who continue to stand watch to ensure that we remain safe and live free.

He also called for prayers for the people of Samoa and all the families suffering from the effects measles epidemic, “that they may find comfort and peace of mind from the epidemic.”

On behalf of Lieutenant Governor Lemanu and his family, and Mrs Cynthia Moliga and and their family, the governor wishes all the people of American Samoa, “A Happy Thanksgiving Day.”

Congresswoman Aumua Aamta also issued a Thanksgiving Day message.

“It’s a meaningful time of year. For most of us this is a time for families, a time for delicious Samoan food and especially a time to focus on our faith, remembering to be grateful for God’s love and grace,

“Many of our people will also be missing those who are far away, as so many have close family memebrs servbing in the military or studying at College were thankful for each fo them, and all our veterans.”

“May God bless American Samoa and be with you and your loved ones and have a Happy Thanksgiving.”
