In Samoa, Justice Leiataualesā Daryl Clarke has ordered a 13 year old boy released from custody and returned to his parents.
The Samoa Observer reports the young man appeared in the Supreme Court Monday and after Justice Leiataualesā realized he was 13 he asked if the boy’s parents were in court.
The young man told him he had not spoken to his parents since he was taken into custody four days earlier.
Justice Leiataualesā then told prosecution that the young man should be released and taken to his parents before anything else can proceed.
“Other matters will follow but the priority is to bring the boy’s parents to court,” he ordered.
The charges against the boy were not disclosed.
