DMWR prediction for November palolo rise

palolo-rising

With the abysmal palolo catch on Tutuila last month, many are looking forward to a better rise of the seaworm this month.

We checked with the Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources for a prediction on this month’s palolo rise.

Maria Vaofanua says according to their Fisheries Division there’s a full moon on the calendar for November 12, so the likely nights for the palolo to make its appearance are November 18th and 19th.

While the prized delicacy seems to have abandoned the reefs of Tutuila last month it was heavy on the big island of Savaii.  KHJ News also received reports that palolo harvesters on boats in Manu’a were blessed but they were not forthcoming with their palolo haul.
