Governor Lolo Moliga has signed into law the appropriations bill to fund the concrete wall around the Territorial Correctional Facility and seawalls in Aua.

The governor  informed Senate President Gaoteote Palaie and House Speaker Savali Talavou Ale in an October 23rd letter that he has signed the bill authorizing $900,000 to fund the wall and $1.1 million for the seawall.

He said the supplemental appropriations will address the need to better secure the TCF and provide shoreline protection improvements in the village of Aua.

The bill was approved during a special session of the Fono earlier this month, while the construction of the TCF wall was already underway with contractors Paramount Builders, Nana’s Construction and Happy Trucking.

The funding sources are FY2017 and FY2018 surplus funds and 2017 dividends from the American Samoa Hawaii Cable.
