The American Samoa Power Authority intends to go out for bids next month for a contractor to build an electric car charging station.
According to Acting Executive Director of ASPA Wallon Young the fuel efficiency on electric vehicles is 60% compared to 20% for gasoline powered cars.
He said one of the major car dealers on island is already moving to import electric cars and its predicted these vehicles will become more popular as favorite gasoline models are phased out.
